Honor Academy
In 1995, the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, in cooperation with the school' s Alumni Group, established an Honor Academy. The Academy seeks to honor graduates who have distinguished themselves in their professions. In addition, a select few who are not graduates of the School but have shown outstanding interest and commitment to School programs were also inducted into the Academy.
Oustanding Alumni
Each year the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science presents one Outstanding Alumnus Award Outstanding to a graduate who has distinguished him or herself in the forestry, environmental science or wildlife ecology and management profession. Recipients of this award automatically become members of the Honor Academy. New in 2007, the school presented its first Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
Presidential Council of Alumnae
The members of the Michigan Technological University (MTU) Presidential Council of Alumnae (PCA) are recognized for achievements in a number of areas such as educational excellence, professional accomplishments, past student service, current community services, University support, and other personal success.
The PCA’s main responsibility is to advise the President on campus climate issues and to provide suggestions for enhancing the University’s environment for students, especially women. The PCA members assist the President by identifying activities and programs that will benefit Michigan Tech students, and work with the Department of Educational Opportunity, the Advancement area, and the academic departments to implement their ideas. <click here>
Women of Promise
The Women of Promise program was initiated in 1999 as a result of a recommendation from the Presidential Council of Alumnae (PCA). The Women of Promise program recognizes current female Michigan Tech students from each academic department who go above and beyond what is expected of them in terms of being a well-rounded student - one who has demonstrated academic achievement, campus and community leadership, good citizenship, creativity, and other characteristics of high achieving individuals. In short, women who exemplify the early criteria one would consider in selecting future inductees to the Presidential Council of Alumnae. < click here>
