Thank you for your gracious invitation. However, due to failing health and the need to move to other quarters this summer, I will not be able to attend your luncheon OR the 50th reunion of the Class of '56.
It was during my tenure at what was then MCMT that the Otter River cabin was given to the Forestry Club. My classmate Pauli Haarala set the posts that held the gates which were installed later. Using the cabin as a deer hunting camp involved backpacking everything in on snow shoes as the road was not plowed from the top of the hill down to the camp. The only heat was the fireplaces and the "facilities" were a one-holer back in the brush.
Can someone tell me why I miss it so?
Have a great reunion Class of '56!

Carrie, Hello, this is Gary LeMasters, an old friend from the Bartelli days!
Thank you for the invitation to the reunion - I won't make it this year, but I will try to come some other year while I can still walk!!!
I am an Environmental Enforcement Specialist with the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. Sounds fancy, heh? I don't get to use my soil science training that often, but I enjoy telling people about my stay in the Copper Country, and am humbled to have rubbed shoulders at the Dog House and other local watering holes with Glenn Mroz!!! Also Dave Reed, Peg Gale, the list goes on! Congratulations to everybody on your success!
I live in the hollows of the Coulee Region of Wisconsin, in Buffalo County. The Mississippi River is about 8 miles to the west, and the local roads are great for bicycling and motorcycling.
I hope to hear from some fellow students from those days. My email address is lemaster@mwt.net. Thanks again for the invitation, and don't spare the bug dope!
Sincerely,
Gary LeMasters
