Terri:
The Northern Station's FIA unit today has advertised two job opportunities on the USAJOBS.GOV website.
The advertisement numbers are:
TA09-00086DP which is a GS-11/GS-12 Research Forester/Research Ecologist position. The ultimate grade level will depend on the applicants background and experience.
TA09-00224DP which is a GS-11 Research Forester position.
The duty station of these positions can be either Newtown Square, Pennsylvania (a Philadelphia suburb) or St. Paul, Minnesota (on the Univ. of MN campus).
Closing date for these positions is 30 December 2008.
Please circulate this email to the university deans and ask them to circulate it among their graduate students. Students who are graduating this winter or next spring are encouraged to consider applying. Because the GS-11 is the lowest grade for these two positions, I think this grade might allow a person nearing the end of their Ph.D. work (e.g., all-but-dissertation; through comprehensive examinations but still working on dissertation) might also be able to be considered, so they too should consider applying if they are interested in working for a vibrant R&D program within the Forest Service. Students should note that these are permanent full-time positions, NOT post-doctoral fellowships.
People with questions should contact Will McWilliams at wmcwilliams@xxxxxxxxx or telephone at 610-557-4050.
