The research involves forest inventory following USFS Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) methods, including measurements of canopy structure, tree height and diameter, leaf area index, biomass, soil sampling and basic data analysis. This is a good opportunity to gain experience with various field techniques and to work with an interdisciplinary group. The study site is located in the Twin Cities and sampling will take place in Ramsey county and Anoka County. Candidates will need their own Transportation (travel costs will be reimbursed). Qualifications: coursework in forest measurements, urban forestry, and/or ecosystem ecology. Experience with GPS/GIS-based field sampling is a plus. The job involves approximately 90% field sampling and 10% indoor work, mostly data entry and analysis. The position is full-time with competitive wages based on experience. Applicants must be hard workers, team players and able to work independently.
