Forest Service SCEP Internship

All-

The application deadline to apply for the Forest Service's Student Career Employment Program (SCEP) closed 31 Dec 07. This is a great program that allows bachelor, master, PhD students to get in the door w/ the Forest Service as an intern and then to be non-competitively converted into a career ladder upon graduation (GS 5, 7, 9).

I consider it to be the gold standard. Several of my friends were hired by these type of programs. One of them was a GS-14 by the ripe old age of 34. Because I failed to discover this program prior to the cutoff I called down to the regional processing office and inquired whether we could still submit applications. You'd be amazed what the words "please" and "thank you" can still accomplish in our society.

Attached is the application form. If you're interested follow the directions carefully and get it submitted ASAP. I repeat--ASAP! Waiting a day or two can cost you. A few hints: spell check is your friend. Your friend is your friend. Your mom and dad are friends. Get friends to look over what you wrote and make sure it is perfect. It is terribly easy to "file" these away if there are mistakes on them. I am also spurring them to have a representative here for our career fair (30-31 Jan).
Happy Hunting. Chris
