*Pygmy Rabbit Field Technicians
I am currently looking for 1 team leader and 2 technicians to conduct field
work for a pygmy rabbit population study. Position is from no later than
September 15th 2008 through early December 2008 in the Lemhi Valley of
Idaho, just outside Leadore.
Work will be completed on 4 study sites in the Lemhi Valley conducting pygmy
rabbit burrow censuses, trapping and radio-collaring rabbits, conducting
mark-resight surveys, and daily radio-telemetry. Individual will be
responsible for recording and entering GPS locations for all burrows from
the censuses into database, as well as, location data of rabbits during
capture, mark-resight surveys, and telemetry. Individuals will be
responsible for performing accurate daily data entry and proper handling and
maintenance of equipment as needed. Coordination of field work and data
entry with fellow crew members and agency personnel will be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently holding or pursuing a B.S. in wildlife or related field, or
equivalent combination of related experience and education.
Applicants must have experience in radio-telemetry; good observation skills
for spotting cryptic pygmy rabbits in sagebrush; background with computer
programs such as MS-Excel and MS-Word; experience with handheld GPS; ability
to work independently and as part of a larger team; strong organizational
and communication skills. Requires a valid driver's license and clean
driving record. Individuals will need to be able to walk several miles in
extreme field conditions Experience with ArcGIS helpful but not required.
