Hourly Rate: $13.43 - Pay is fixed and non-negotiable. OPS positions
do not receive benefits or annual leave.

Description of duties: The OPS Assistant Conservation Biologist will
assist in the development and administration of incentive based
conservation programs for state and federal listed species. The
successful applicant will assist in the development of several
on-going Habitat Conservation Plans and Conservation Banks that span
a wide range of Florida ecosystems and taxa.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
1) Assist in the development of incentive based programs (Habitat
Conservation Plans, Conservation Banks, Candidate Conservation
Agreements, and Safe Harbor Agreements) for federally listed wildlife
species.
2) Assist in the development and implementation of state-level
programs comparable to the federal programs. This will require
interaction with private landowners, federal staff, FWC staff, and
other agency/municipality staff.
3) Work closely with Incentive Based Conservation staff in routine
operations of the subsection. This will include, but not be limited
to, clerical work.
4) Assist in the administration of the aforementioned programs as
necessary.
5) Assist Species Conservation Planning staff as necessary.
6) Assist the Listed Species Coordinator as necessary.
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university in biology, wildlife science, policy, or related field and
one year of experience.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: The successful applicant must
possess the knowledge of the flora, fauna and natural communities of
Florida; knowledge of incentive based conservation programs; the
ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional
manner; the ability to work independently and in teams; effective
verbal and written communication skills; and basic computer skills.
