If so, then the Ministry of Natural Resources has a great opportunity for you. 
	

In the role of Far North Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work as a key member of a dynamic research team and contribute to a high profile government research project (peat ecology in the far north). You will provide specialized scientific and technical support to all programs within the research unit, plan and coordinate research programs, analyze and interpret date and communicate results to project partners. 
	

Qualifications: knowledge of one or more areas of science related to peat ecology in the far north (biology, forestry, arctic ecology, soil science or hydrology)in order to conduct research and prepare scientific reports; knowledge of standard scientific methods, procedures, techniques and tools; knowledge of forest stand dynamics, policies and procedures governing forest management planning in Ontario and forest management principles and practices; proficiency with computer software including databases, geographic information systems, spreadsheets, word processing, statistics and graphics to acquire, analyze, maintain and report on complex program data sets; well developed written and oral communication, planning and organization skills; ability to work independently and with a variety of project partners; technical and scientific skills to conduct daily research project operations; technical writing skills and an understanding of methods and protocol for conducting literatu
 re searches; ability to travel and work in adverse and remote field locations; knowledge of occupational health and safety act and related legislation and standards. 


The successful candidate will be paid at the Biologist 2a or 2b in accordance with his/her level of professional expertise and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.
