University of Alaska Fairbanks

 

RESEARCH AID         FORESTRY FIELD ASSISTANT

UAF Forest Growth and Yield Program

 

 

 

JOB DURATION                  May 13 through August 26 2009

MAJOR DUTIES

Work with a forestry crew remeasuring fixed size plots.

Locate plots on ground and on maps (orienteering).

Perform basic forest measurements such as tree diameter, height.

Measure seedling/sapling growth and vigor.

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week at various locations in interior and south-central Alaska. 

            Work 8 days on and 6 days off 

            University pays for living expenses while traveling away from Fairbanks

Most work away from Fairbanks, tent camping.

QUALIFICATIONS

Adquate forestry fieldwork experience required

Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel® and Access® preferred

SALARY                    $11.66 per hour
