The USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station’s* *Interior
West Forest Inventory and Analysis Program

anticipates filling the following permanent position:
Data Services Specialist (GIS), GS-301-11. This position is currently

This position serves as a GIS/Data Services Specialist with the Interior
West Forest Inventory and Analysis Program, headquartered in Ogden,
Utah, which conducts forest land resource inventories and forest health
monitoring activities throughout the Interior West States including
Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Montana, Utah, and

Duties of the position will include acquiring, storing and managing a
number of spatial data layers; writing “canned” queries to be used by
field, analysis, and/or techniques staff; providing GIS support to
Field, Prefield, Information Management and other staff groups as
needed; responding to data requests and working with the Spatial Data
Services national group as needed; and performing advanced GIS
operations such as collecting ownership data, providing stratification
information and field logistics planning.
