POSITION: Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D.), 0.5 time
Soil and Environmental Chemistry

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: A graduate research assistantship (to be hired
through EPA
grant funds) is available immediately as part of a broad research
program examining the impacts of soil contaminants (inorganic)
on food safety from urban and other types of gardening activities
on brownfields. The successful candidate will perform research
on identifying contaminant impacted areas; understanding
contaminant chemistry and their phytoavailability; and designing
and testing various remediation strategies for the mitigation of
contaminants.
QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, or related
discipline.
Demonstrated excellence in course work, good written and oral
communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member
is required. Experience with routine soil chemical analytical
techniques is essential and experience with advanced soil
chemical analytical techniques are highly desirable for this
position.
STIPEND AND FEES: Minimum annual stipend is $ 19,972 with health insurance
available. Graduate Research Assistants are considered Kansas
residents for tuition purposes and annual tuition and fees range
from $1,800 to $4,000, depending on total credit hours. Student
tuition up to $4,000 per year will be remunerated by grant dollars.
