    Part I - Position Purpose

The Manager of Wood Procurement is responsible for providing strategic direction and decision making for supplying wood to the Macon Mill.

    Part II - Job Functions

·1 Responsible for the purchasing of all wood for Macon Mill from any source; negotiates pricing on all wood (roundwood and chips).

    ·2 Responsible for bark procurement at the Macon Mill.

·3 Responsible for outside sales of chips and bark fuel to other companies.

·4 Interfaces closely with mill operational, maintenance and the external chip supplier to coordinate the wood and chip inventories.

·5 Ensures regular communication with Wood Yard, Pulp Mill and Utilities; coordinates with respective departments to ensure safe/effective flow of wood to/through the mill.

    ·6 Manages the volume of wood chipped at Macon Chips.

    ·7 Prepares wood budgets and forecasts costs.

    ·8 Maintain vendor relations to monitor competitive markets.

·9 Coordinates the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification for the Macon Mill.

·10 Represents GPI on Georgia Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) state implementation committee.

·11 Manages the activities of the Wood Procurement Coordinator and the Superintendent of Wood Procurement.


    Part III - Job Specifications

·1 Bachelors degree required in pulp/paper related field. Forestry degree preferred.

    ·2 7-10 years experience in wood procurement.

    ·3 Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
