Bachelor's//Talladega N.F.//Forester Trainee

Looks like this individual contacted Linda Nagel directly. He may be looking specifically for a Michigan Tech student. I just returned from Alabam. It's nice there...I saw grass. Green grass.

I was in the NASP session at MTU last spring. I was hoping you could
spread the word to any graduating seniors or grad students finishing up
this May that the USFS will be hiring several Forester Trainee positions
this spring. One position in particular will be on the Shoal Creek Ranger
District of the Talladega National Forest in Alabama, where I work. These
are great positions to get your foot in the door and advance quickly
upward in the agency. These are 5/7/9 positions, so after the first year
you go from a 5 to a 7, which is roughly from $27,000/yr to $34,000/yr,
and then after another year will go from a 7 to a 9 , or $34,000/yr to
$43,000/yr. The position is usually for about two years and then the
trainee will relocate to another district, often as a GS-11 or $53,000/yr.
I think the official vacancy annoucement will come out in February or
early March. If you know of anyone who might be interested or would like
to know more about the trainee program, please have them contact me and I
will make sure they receive the vacancy annoucement when it comes out.

Thanks for spreading the word.

Jeff
