2009 Conservation Education Intern
Program Description The USDA Forest Service is offering college
students the
opportunity to work as part of a team of
interns for 9 weeks this summer (June 14 – August 14). This
team of four interns will design and implement
conservation education programs for urban youth, ranging in age from
3-12
years. The team will make repeat visits
to sites such as: the Urban Treehouse site, community centers, parks,
YMCAs,
day camps and summer schools throughout Goal The goal of the Conservation Education Intern Program is to interact, through games and activities, with urban youth (ages 3-12) from diverse backgrounds providing insight about natural resources, environmental issues, stewardship and careers in natural resource fields. The program strives to help urban youth make a connection between natural resources in their own community and federal lands. Student
Eligibility Requirements Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, graduate or professional school. Applicants must be in good academic standing. Majors Major or Minor preferred in one or more of the following fields; Natural Resource Management, Education, Forestry, Urban Forestry, Environmental Education, , Environmental Sciences or Natural Sciences. Experience working with children beneficial. Pay Students will be paid at the Government payscale of GS-3, 4 or 5 level based on level of education and experience. How to
