A PhD Assistantship in Soil Chemistry at University of Missouri
The graduate research assistantship is available at University of
Missouri, effective August 2009 until filled. The assistantship will
work on a federal funded project to reduce arsenic uptake by rice plants
from contaminated soils through the in-situ immobilization techniques.
The research involves greenhouse experiments, risk assessment,
microscopic and spectroscopic studies. The student will be responsible
for experimental design, sample analyses, data processing, and
reporting. Successful candidate should have a MS degree in soil
science, environmental science or related disciplines, with a strong
background of analytical chemistry. Skills in solution or surface
chemistry and risk assessment are highly desirable. The assistantship
is 0.5 FTE and covers a stipend of $14,400 per year plus tuition. If
