Sr. Rsch. Specialist, DNR, OK State University - B.S. Required
SR. RESEARCH SPECIALIST – A full-time position; employment length will be dependent upon availability of grant funding.
Pay Range : $2,250-$3,628/month, and will be dependent upon amount of grant funding available and commensurate with education/experience. Full benefits apply.
Location: Department of Natural Resource Ecology & Management, Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK.
Qualifications: B.S. in Biology, Natural Resource Management or related field and 2 to 3 years related experience is required. Ability to work independently, excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and balance multiple projects. Knowledge of SAS, Excel, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and GIS. M.S. in Biology, Natural Resource Management or related field is preferred.
Duties: Collection of waterfowl survey data from national wildlife refuges throughout the central and northern Great Plains. Responsible for contacting refuge managers, obtaining entering, and proofing survey data, and completing data syntheses and analyses. Data collection will involve traveling to several refuges to obtain hard copies of data sheets from long-term waterfowl monitoring programs. Assist with collection of field data from several on-going research projects. Use remote sensing and GIS to conduct spatial-temporal analyses of waterfowl distribution and occurrence patters relative to locations of national wildlife refuges and climatic data. Use GIS to develop temporal and spatial distributional maps of waterfowl during spring and fall migration. Assist cooperating scientists with interpretation of data and maps generated by GIS. Assist with compiling, writing, and editing final report associated with the waterfowl research project.
