Two PhD positions at Freiburg University
2 PhD Scholarships
for research related to
Adapting Forest Ecosystems to Global Change
The Graduate School “Environment, Society and Global Change” at Freiburg
University
http://www.gs.esgc.uni-freiburg.de/) offers 2 scholarships to carry out
PhD research within the
Research Areas “Adapting Forest Ecosystems to Global Change”.
The Scholarships are available from 1st October 2009 for an initial
period of 2 years with the expectation
of an extension for one more year. PhD students in the Graduate School
are expected
to complement their research through a number of courses and
participation in colloquia, for
which they will gain credit points. Content specific courses will be
offered through the Graduate
School as well as the International Graduate Academy of Freiburg
University (http://www.iga.unifreiburg.
de/).
The scholarships of € 820 per month cover only the living expenses of
PhD scholars (The scholarship
rate will be raised in 2010). It is therefore important that applicants
discuss possible projects
with potential supervisors from the list of academic members of the
graduate school to ensure
that additional costs for travel, experimentation, analyses etc. are
covered through other
sources. Contact details of possible PhD supervisors can be found on the
home page of the
graduate school
(http://www.gs.esgc.uni-freiburg.de/copy_of_Members/scientific_memb).
Applications should contain a CV, academic transcripts, letter of
motivation, a project proposal
(not more than 10 pages), and letters of conformation by two professors
to show that they will
supervise the candidate.
