Hello Dr. Gale,
Hello, my name is Megan Matonis and I am a masters student in the department
of Forestry at Michigan State University. I want to hire 2 students to help
me with field work this summer, and I thought it would be nice if I could
hire someone familiar with the UP. Do you have a list serve that you could
use to circulate my job announcement around to the forestry students? Thank
you so much.

Are you looking for field work experience? Well I’m looking for 2
motivated and hardworking students to assist with summer field work in the
Upper Peninsula from about May 20th to August 20th. My name is Megan
Matonis and I am a masters student in the Forestry Department at Michigan
State University. My project is exploring the impact of deer browsing on
tree regeneration in northern hardwood forests that were selectively
harvested. Tasks include identifying tree species, measuring regeneration,
cutting down saplings, and using GPS to locate sites. Applicants should have
good attention to detail and accuracy, be physically fit and be ready to
spend long days outside. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s
license. Summer housing is provided in an apartment next to a lake in
Hardwood, Michigan! The job pays $8.50/hour and you are guaranteed at least
40 hours of work a week. Please email resumes with three references to
matonism@xxxxxxx; please include a number where you can be reached so we can
have a brief phone interview. Thanks!
