In the next few weeks the Southern Research Station’s Center for Bottomland Hardwoods Research will advertise a GS-1315-13/14 position as Research Hydrologist. The position will be located in Thompson Hall of Mississippi State University’s School of Forestry in Starkville, Mississippi. The incumbent’s official duty station will be Starkville, MS.

Key duties of the position include:

   * providing managers, private forest landowners, and investors with
a better understanding of the regional water balance and how
hydrologic processes will affect water quantity and quality, and
affect afforestation efforts in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial
     Valley; and
   * developing landscape-level models aimed at refining concepts such
as Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and Best Management Practices
for use in the ecologically sound and economically viable
