Subject: Forest Service is hiring at the SAF convention
The Forest Service (FS) will be interviewing students for on-the-spot hiring at the Society of American Foresters (SAF) convention in Orlando, Florida starting on September 30, 2009. On-the-spot hiring offers a streamlined approach for the Forest Service to hire top talent from universities by utilizing noncompetitive hiring authorities such as Career Intern Program (CIP) and Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). For the CIP program, the candidate will participate in a 2 year intern program with the FS, will need a college degree or expectation candidate will graduate within 6 months, and/or have diverse professional experience and training. For the SCEP Program, the candidate will complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience with the FS prior to completing his/her degree, and must be enrolled in or accepted into a college degree program related to the assigned work.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to fax their applications to the FS' Albuquerque Service Center Excepted Service office at (866) 338-3024 by September 24th. There will also be a limited number of applications accepted in-person at the SAF convention on a first-come, first-serve basis. We invite students who are interested in on-the-spot hiring to visit us at the convention on Wednesday, September 30th at 5 pm just outside the Student Orientation and Reception area, and at our Job Recruitment booth (#403) in the Exhibit Hall.
We'll also be participating in the job fair on Friday, October 2nd from 12:30 to 3:30 pm for students interested in future job opportunities with the Forest Service.
Refer to our website at: http://www.fs.fed.us/forestmanagement/infocenter/job_announcements/index.shtml for information about available positions, how to apply, and where to submit applications. We will post additional jobs as they become available, and encourage students to periodically check our website between now and September 30th for updates.
We appreciate your help in networking these job opportunities to students and recent graduates. If you have any questions related to the jobs offered, contact the managers listed on the website at: http://www.fs.fed.us/forestmanagement/infocenter/job_announcements/index.shtml. If you have any questions related to on-the-spot hiring, contact Michelle Hatcher at (530) 226-2381 or by email at mhatcher@xxxxxxxxx
