MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a
major in forestry and three (3) years of professional forestry
experience; or
A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a
major in forestry and two (2) years of professional forestry
experience.
JOB DUTIES:
Assists the Forest Supervisor with the implementation of the
Management Plan on Goethe State Forest. Coordinates the
silvicultural activities of two (2) Foresters including timber sales
and forest inventory as they apply to Goethe State Forest’s
management objective.
Assists in the planning, implementation, and coordinating of the
harvest plan. Responsible for the administration of 1/3 of all
timber sales in progress on Goethe State Forest and seeing that the
conditions of the timber sale agreements are not violated such as the
cutting of unmarked trees, leaving an area littered, and unnecessary
damage to unmarked trees during regular inspections of all sales.
Assists with the planning, implementation, and coordination of forest
inventory including stand description of various timber stand
conditions for the purpose of describing present stand conditions and
prescribing recommendations for silvicultural and other treatments.
Conducts 1/3 of the annual forest inventory.
Assists the Forestry Supervisor and the Forest Area Supervisor with
the planning, implementation, and coordination of the prescribed
burning program on Goethe State Forest.
Responsible for maintaining all GIS and the geo-data base of the
forest.
Responsible for the detection and control of insect and disease
attacks on acres of forest land including the administration of the
forest-wide salvage sale.
Responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordination of
reforestation on Goethe State Forest, either hand planting, machine
planting, or natural regeneration.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
