MS offer - Fosest Soil/University of Idaho
We are seeking an MS student to evaluate the impacts of biochar amendments on forest soil microbial processes. The graduate student will work on a collaborative USDA Forest Service funded study evaluating impacts of removing bioenergy feedstocks from hazard fuel reduction projects for the production of bio-oil and biochar through mobile pyrolysis units ( http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/umpqua/projects/fast-pyrolysis/index.shtml ). The primary focus is on the impact of biochar amendments on forest soil physical, chemical and microbial processes. The MS student should be familiar with forest soil science, as well as above and belowground processes controlling variation in forest productivity throughout the Inland Northwest. Desirable background includes experience with forest bioenergy production systems, forest soils, and assessing forest nutrition. For inquiries contact Mark Coleman ( mcoleman@xxxxxxxxxx , 208-885-7604). Applications deadline is 30 October 2009. A full announcement c
