Hi
Carrie.
Sorry to
say, this photo doesn't seem OLD to me - but it was taken in September,
1984, when we hosted the Lake States Forest Soils Conference at Ford Center. John Kotar is speaking, Steve Shetron is next to him.
Further over to the right is Dennis Robinson, a MDA soil scientist,
and maybe Kathy Teahan? On the other side, is that you? And Charlie
Becker?
The wild man
in the pit is an unidentified but enthusiastic soil scientist.

Carrie's note: Click
this image for a larger view. Yes, that is Kathy Teahan
(now Becker) on the far right. And yes, that is the 24 year-old-me
(Carrie Richards) in the green down coat and Charlie Becker with
his arms crossed in the blue jacket. Les Fuller is in tan behind
John Kotar. I remember the social aspects of the conference more
than the soil pits! Thanks for the great picture, Eunice.

D : Anyone recognize this guy?
Tom
Cain ('69) says that he thinks this is Jim Hewitt ('70?). He says the photo
was definitely taken at the Otter River camp. Tom recognizes the road coming
down the hill and can just make out the sauna behind the trees. He also
said that several in his class and one or two classes behind, participated
in building the sauna. Both John and Drew DePuydt were involved. He remembers
thatt there are several cases of small aluminum "time capsules"
embedded in the foundation. |

E :Another
unidentified and undated photo.
Joel Wagenaar
and Lou Best were talking about Photo E and they identified these people:
Left to right: Lou Best, Joe Minier (transit), Joe Asiala (kneeling), Ed
DePuit, and Tom Oldfield.Lou thought they were doing field work for a planimetric
map or survey instrument training in prep for the map - it was in 1968.
