REU Site for Ecosystems in Transition:

The Role of Research in Assessing Ecosystem Responses to a Changing Environment:

Eligibility and General Information: 

The program is open to all undergraduate students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. 

Stipends ($3,000) plus room, board and travel are provided. 

There are no specific requirements for applicants, but coursework in ecology, environmental science, natural resources or biological science and previous experience with laboratory or field research would be helpful.  Of primary importance is the student’s interest in possible careers in science, research and teaching. 

Women and students from groups that are underrepresented in science and research are strongly encouraged to apply. 

In addition to your completed application form, you must also provide

è      A resume describing school and community activities and honors and employment history

è      A copy of academic transcripts listing credit hours completed, courses completed and currently enrolled in, and cumulative GPA (photocopies are acceptable)

è      A one to two page essay describing your interest and experience in ecology and environmental science, professional career goals, and impact participation in the REU for Ecosystems in Transition program could have on your academic and professional careers 

è      Two letters of recommendation from faculty members (please have the letters sent by the faculty members who write them)

On-line forms:  On-line versions of the application form are available in Word and Acrobat formats.  You may:

*  Print them as blank forms, fill them out and mail them with your other application materials

*  Fill out the forms on line, print out the completed forms, and mail them with your other application materials

*  Save the forms to your computer, fill them out on your computer, and attach the forms to an application email along with other materials.  If you choose this option and the Adobe Acrobat form, you must have a full version of Acrobat, not just the Acrobat Reader.  You also will have to save the blank form on your computer and then open that version before filling it out.  Otherwise your entries may be lost.
