Gary Campbell, Director of the MS program in Applied Natural Resource Economics, was a Fulbright Scholar to Ethiopia in 1990-1991. He taught students in the Department of Economics at Addis Ababa University and give seminars to various professional groups on the economics of natural resources. In his free time, he hiked the nearby hills and visited the countryside. This initial experience in Africa led him to form other academic partnerships in Burundi, Eritrea, and South Africa. Students from Burundi, Ghana, Guinea, and Mozambique have graduated from the MS in Natural Resources Economics program. (The Peace Corps program is not limited to Africa.)
